HAT-TRICK OF STAIRCASES MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL ACADEMY
EeStairs collaborates with Rafael Vinoly Architects and BAM
EeStairs has produced a selection of high-specification staircases for Manchester City Football Club’s world-class academy complex. Working in collaboration with Rafael Vinoly Architects and BAM, two large office staircases with stone treads and 80 metres of glass balustrades were fitted.
Stainless steel and glass
In addition, a very large helical staircase spanning 12 metres from top to bottom was created for the MCFA media entrance, featuring attractive stainless steel risers and 70mm thick stone treads. The stair offers a glass balustrade with a raking design which can sometimes prove structurally challenging.
Notable and unusual
Steve Bray, Senior Creative Advisor at EeStairs UK comments: “The scale of the media entrance staircase is notable – as is the use of 70mm thick slate trades. It’s an unusual choice, but definitely a selection that has created an effective and highly attractive end result.
“We thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Rafael Vinoly Architects and BAM, bringing our design know-how and attention to detail in the design process to the forefront of the project.”
