'The Rock' has the Staircase of the Year

EeStairs has created a staircase for Amsterdam law firm, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek NV – whose building is known as ‘The Rock’. The staircase, designed by architect Erick van Egeraat has since gone on to win EeStairs’ staircase of the year competition.

White stone treads compliment a dark wood banister, formed from American walnut giving the staircase a genuinely chic feel. Curved tempered glass is also used in the stair’s rounded design – contrasting with straight shapes and sharp angles throughout the rest of the building’s interior - the design of which was co-ordinated by IPMMC Consult.

EeStairs’ Creative Director, Cornelis van Vlastuin commented: “This year we had many exceptional options to select for the award – though the combination of innovative design and the materials used in this staircase are truly phenomenal.”
