Renovating a Farmhouse? Discover How a Luxury Bespoke Staircase Makes All the Difference

Renovating a farmhouse is about bringing together the best of both worlds. The character of the original building is preserved, while modern elements introduce greater comfort, more natural light, and a contemporary feel. One of the most defining features of such a renovation is the staircase.

A bespoke staircase is much more than a connection between two floors. It is an architectural feature that enhances the space and defines the style of the home. Whether you opt for natural materials, a striking design, or a compact solution, a well-designed staircase blends seamlessly with the authentic character of a farmhouse.

Be inspired by three exceptional EeStairs projects, each demonstrating in its own way how a luxury staircase and a historic farmhouse can come together in perfect harmony.

Natural Elegance in a Historic Barn

Sustainability was at the heart of the renovation of the historic barn at Ahof Estate. The goal was to create a future-proof home while respecting the building’s history and its natural surroundings.

The bespoke staircase by EeStairs perfectly reflects this vision. For the first time, an impressive spiral staircase was created using plywood as the visible finish material. The natural appearance of the wood forms a harmonious whole with the other materials used throughout the home, including lime plaster, flax insulation, and bespoke timber interiors.

Despite the simplicity of the chosen materials, the staircase is technically exceptional. Thanks to its self-supporting structure without a central column, it achieves an elegant, flowing form that demonstrates that luxury is not defined solely by exclusive materials, but also by craftsmanship, innovation, and refined detailing.

Smart Bespoke Design for More Living Space

Not every farmhouse has an abundance of available space. That is precisely why a smart staircase solution can make a significant difference.

For this project, a modern 1m2® staircase by EeStairs was chosen. Thanks to its compact design, more floor space remains available for the living area, while the upper floor remains comfortably accessible. This creates a practical solution without compromising on design.

The combination of a contemporary staircase and the farmhouse’s authentic elements creates a striking contrast. The modern design adds a touch of luxury to the home, while its characteristic atmosphere is fully preserved.

From a Traditional Staircase to an Architectural Centrepiece

A farmhouse often undergoes a complete transformation in both layout and appearance during a renovation. In this process, the staircase deserves a central role as well.

In this project, a traditional, outdated staircase was replaced with a luxury bespoke staircase that immediately draws attention. While the original staircase was primarily functional, the new staircase has become the architectural focal point of the space. With its high-quality finish and carefully selected materials, the design perfectly complements the renovated farmhouse.

The before-and-after photos clearly show the impact a new staircase can have on an interior. It is not only the staircase that changes; the entire space gains a more luxurious, calmer, and more open atmosphere.

A Staircase That Complements Your Farmhouse

No two farmhouses are the same, and neither are EeStairs staircases. Every bespoke staircase is designed with careful consideration for the architecture of the home, the available space, and the wishes of the residents.

Whether it involves a sustainable renovation, replacing an existing staircase, or creating a smart space-saving solution, a luxury bespoke staircase can become the connecting element between a farmhouse’s rich heritage and the comfort of modern living. These three projects demonstrate that contemporary design and authentic architecture do not work against each other—they enhance and strengthen one another.
