OM Residence, Atlanta [US]

This staircase, in an ultra-luxurious residence in Atlanta, Georgia, connects a massive basement garage with two upper floors. The stairs’ steel structure and its perfectly smooth EeSoffit™ create a striking architectural contrast with the design and materiality of the living areas. The balustrades also echo the curves of the homeowner’s collection of supercars in the garage.
The geometry of the stairs is unusual and required precise fabrication and installation by our team. The top edge of the inner balustrade rises in regular gradients and turns; but the outer balustrade has partially curved top edges – and this unusual aspect of the design is particularly obvious in the first flight rising from basement-level.
EeStairs delivered the staircase in sections, and re-assembled them in situ. It was of critical importance to ensure that the top edges of the ‘grooves’ in the balustrade were precisely parallel so that the continuous wooden handrails would be accurately seated. And there was another significant outcome: our finishers matched the patination coating on the balustrades to the dark colour of the wood panelling in the living space.
